In the 1990s, both Argentina and Brazil had enormous economic problems, with Argentina almost defaulting in 1999. However, since 2002 both economies had known a strong GDP growth, with Argentina’s economic rising by a staggering 8.8% last year. Although Brazil is the current 6th largest economy, giving 20 companies in the Forbes 500, their appetite for high above the ground structures (aka skyscrapers) is low. For example, the tallest building in Brazil is Mirante do Vale (Sao Paolo) with a height of 170 m and 51 stories. Believe it or not, it was build more than 50 years ago. Although a lot of new skyscrapers where build in the past 10 years, they have a usual height of 140-160 meters and they are located in Brazil’s financial center, Sao Paulo.

By contrast, 9 out of the 10 tallest buildings in Argentina where build after 2004. The tallest, Unico Buenos Aires Hotel (yes, you read well, hotel!) was finished this year and has a stunning height of 250 m. Unfortunately, we couldn’t find an interesting photo with Unico to put here. Now, below you’ll find some great images of less known places from Argentina or Brazil. Because Brazil’s capital, Brasilia is overly praised as an amazing example of modern architecture, we thought that it’s better to include only a couple of important buildings from there. However, we couldn’t resist including some awesome modern house architecture. Now, enjoy, be inspired and if you will like this article, then please share it with your friends or community! Many thanks! Cheer!
